beyond the fence

PURCHASE

Pressed between historical vignettes and exquisite photography, Beyond the Fence affords a seasonal view of foods and menus that blend traditional and modern techniques, while offering a glimpse inside some of the area’s most enduring gathering places. Central Baptist Hospital commissioned Marc Manning of Versailles as the book’s photographer and Margaret Lane, a published historian who worked closely with Dr. Thomas Clark for many years, as historical editor.

Hundreds of area citizens contributed timeless recipes reflecting generations of our local culinary heritage. 261 recipes include seasonal selections of beverages, appetizers, breakfast, entrees, vegetables and sides, desserts and candies.

All proceeds from Beyond the Fence: A Culinary View of Historic Lexington will provide continual funding for the Central Baptist Hospital Foundation Cancer Program, which is dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals and families touched by cancer through patient care, research and education initiatives.
